Pisces Venus and Pisces Venus compatibility pairs two people with Venus in the same sign, and a special one. Venus is the planet of love and pleasure in astrology. Your Venus sign shows what you find lovely and how you reach for it. In Pisces, the old books say Venus is exalted, lifted to a place of honor.
That makes this couple unique among the 78 Venus pairs. Venus has only one sign of exaltation. So this is the only pair in which both Venuses are exalted. We checked eight centuries of sky, from 1600 to 2400, to see what else sets it apart.
This page walks through the rank of Venus in Pisces, the Sun signs these two people hold, how close their Venuses sit in degrees, and how rare the pair is. Read it as a lens, not a forecast. Astrology is not a science, and no study has shown that a Venus sign predicts how a couple will do.
The pair at a glance
| Question | What we found. |
|---|---|
| How common is the pair? | About 1 random couple in 145, rank 73 of the 78 Venus pairs. |
| What link do the signs form? | A conjunction, the same sign, water with water. |
| Are the two Venuses close in degrees? | Within 8 degrees for 46 percent of couples. |
| What rank does Venus hold? | Exalted, in both charts. |
| Who hosts each Venus? | Jupiter, the ruler of Pisces. |
| Which Sun pair comes up most? | One Aries Sun and one Aquarius Sun, in 16.9 percent of couples. |
| How many share a Sun sign? | About 1 couple in 4. |
Exalted twice in the house of Jupiter
Ptolemy wrote the Tetrabiblos in Alexandria around 150 AD. It is the oldest full handbook of Western astrology we still have. In Book I he sets out the signs where each planet is strong or weak.
A planet can be strong in two ways. Its house, or domicile, is the sign it rules. Its exaltation is a sign where it is honored as a guest of high rank. Venus rules Taurus and Libra. It is exalted in Pisces.
Ptolemy gives a reason in chapter 19. Venus is moist by nature, he says. So it is lifted up in the Fishes, where the moist spring begins. Pisces is the last sign of winter, just before the spring equinox.
The house itself belongs to Jupiter. In chapter 17, Ptolemy gives Jupiter both Sagittarius and Pisces. So in this couple, each Venus is an honored guest in a house of Jupiter. In the old books Jupiter is the greater benefic, the planet that does the most good. Venus is the lesser benefic. Two kind planets, in two charts, share one roof.
Only three same-sign Venus pairs have both Venuses in a sign of strength. Taurus and Libra put Venus at home. Pisces puts it in exaltation. No other pair, mixed or not, has two exalted Venuses.
The peak degree, twice
Later writers pinned the exaltation to one degree. William Lilly, in Christian Astrology in 1647, puts the peak of Venus at 27 degrees Pisces. So how many of these couples have both Venuses near that point?
We measured the share of Venus-in-Pisces time spent in the last band, from 27 to 30 degrees. It comes to 9.91 percent on both of our routes. That matches the figure on our page about Venus in Pisces, which shows it is about one chart in 121 overall.
| Where the two Venuses sit | Share of these couples. |
|---|---|
| Both in the 27 to 30 degree band | 0.98 percent, about 1 couple in 102. |
| Exactly one in the band | 17.86 percent, about 1 couple in 6. |
| Neither in the band | 81.16 percent, most couples. |
So a double peak is rare even inside this rare couple. For most of these partners, the exaltation works by sign, not by the exact degree.
Same Venus, different Suns
Venus never strays far from the Sun. Seen from Earth, the widest gap between them is about 47 degrees. A sign is 30 degrees wide. So Venus can sit in the Sun’s sign, one sign away, or two signs away. For Venus in Pisces, that leaves five Sun signs.
| Sun sign | Share of people with Venus in Pisces. |
|---|---|
| Capricorn | 9.42 percent. |
| Aquarius | 28.57 percent. |
| Pisces | 23.28 percent. |
| Aries | 29.56 percent, the largest group. |
| Taurus | 9.18 percent. |
So fewer than one in four people with Venus in Pisces are Pisces by Sun sign. The biggest group is Aries, just ahead of Aquarius.
Now pair two of these people. Each Sun is drawn from the same list, on its own. A mixed Sun pair can form two ways, so we count both. Here are the main ones.
| The two Sun signs | Share of these couples. |
|---|---|
| One Aries, one Aquarius | 16.89 percent, the top pair. |
| One Aries, one Pisces | 13.76 percent. |
| One Aquarius, one Pisces | 13.30 percent. |
| Both Aries | 8.74 percent. |
| Both Aquarius | 8.16 percent. |
| Both Pisces | 5.42 percent. |
| Both Capricorn or both Taurus | 1.73 percent in all. |
| Every other mix | 32.00 percent. |
Add the five same-Sun rows and you get 24.05 percent. So about 1 couple in 4 shares both the Venus sign and the Sun sign. The other 3 in 4 have two different Suns.
The top pair sits on both sides of Pisces. The Aries partner has Venus in the sign before the Sun, so Venus rises ahead of the Sun as a morning star. The Aquarius partner has Venus in the sign after the Sun, so Venus sets after the Sun as an evening star. The same Venus sign can show up at dawn in one chart and at dusk in the other.
Why does this matter? Many readers land here because both partners are Pisces by Sun sign. That is a different couple. Only 5.42 percent of Pisces Venus couples are also a double Pisces Sun pair. Check the real charts before you read one as the other.
A water conjunction between two double signs
Two Venuses in one sign form a conjunction by sign. A conjunction is a blend. Its tone depends on what is blended. Here it is water with water, and a mutable sign with a mutable sign.
Water is the element of feeling in modern astrology. Mutable signs fall at the end of a season, when things start to change. Ptolemy calls these signs bicorporeal, which means double bodied. The Fishes are two fish, tied by one cord and swimming in two directions.
That image fits the pair well. Two people with the same taste in love can pull the same way, or drift the same way. A blend of two Pisces Venuses doubles the gift and doubles the blind spot.
How close are the two Venuses?
In degrees, two Venuses in one sign can be anywhere from 0 to 30 degrees apart. Astrologers allow a margin around an exact match, called an orb. With an 8 degree orb, a gap of 8 degrees or less counts as a true conjunction.
We measured the real gaps, using the true spread of Venus inside Pisces.
| Orb allowed | Couples with a true conjunction | Put simply. |
|---|---|---|
| 3 degrees | 19.0 percent | About 1 couple in 5. |
| 6 degrees | 36.0 percent | About 1 couple in 3. |
| 8 degrees | 46.2 percent | Just under half. |
| 10 degrees | 55.5 percent | Just over half. |
At 8 degrees, the Pisces pair scores 46.20 percent. With Venus spread evenly across the sign, the figure would be 46.22 percent. So Venus in Pisces is spread almost evenly by degree. More than half of these couples do not have a conjunction in degrees.
A close gap matters to astrologers. Two Venuses within a few degrees are read as one taste in love, shown twice. A gap of 20 degrees is the same sign, but a looser echo.
How common is the pair?
Venus spends 8.32 percent of its time in Pisces over the years 1600 to 2400. That is seventh of the twelve signs. Pick two people born at unrelated moments. The odds that both have Venus in Pisces are 0.69 percent. That is about 1 couple in 145.
That puts the pair at rank 73 of the 78 Venus pairs. Only five pairs are rarer. Same-sign pairs sit near the bottom of the list for a simple reason. Two different Venus signs can pair up two ways, and a same-sign pair only one way.
A short window tells a different story. For people born from 1950 to 2010, Venus in Pisces was scarcer, at about 7 percent. Over eight centuries it evens out. Our hub on Venus sign compatibility lists all 78 pairs side by side.
Reading the pair the traditional way
In a chart, Venus shows what you value and how you draw love in. Stephen Arroyo reads it as your sense of worth. Here is how the old grid reads this meeting. None of it has been tested, and the Sun, Moon and Mars of each partner can change every line.
Where the two Venuses meet
- Deep care. Both love by giving, and both notice pain in others.
- A taste for beauty. Music, film, the sea and quiet places feed both.
- Easy forgiveness. Neither one keeps a long list of wrongs.
- Faith in love. The exalted Venus looks for the ideal, and here both do.
Where they rub
- Two dreamers. Someone has to pay the bills and read the fine print.
- Hints instead of words. Each hopes the other will guess, and both wait.
- Soft edges. Neither one likes to say no, so small hurts pile up unsaid.
- The ideal against the real. A love lifted high can fall hard when life gets plain.
The skill here is plain speech. One partner says the need out loud. The other says yes or no, and means it. Feelings answer to the Moon as well as Venus, and Pisces and Pisces Moon signs reads that side of the pair.
What the evidence says
No study has tested Venus signs in couples at scale. The largest test of love signs used Sun signs. In 2007 the sociologist David Voas looked at the 2001 census of England and Wales. He studied about 10.3 million married couples. He found no link between Sun signs and who marries whom.
Voas did not test Venus. So treat this page as words for a talk about dreams and plain speech. It is not a verdict on the couple.
How we measured it
We used two separate routes over the years 1600 to 2400. Every moment counts the same. The zodiac is tropical, seen from the center of the Earth.
Route one used the Astronomy Engine library. It found each time Venus and the Sun changed sign, to within a tenth of a second. It then summed the time in each case, with no random draws. The spread of Venus inside the sign came from hourly steps, in bins of a tenth of a degree.
Route two used the Swiss Ephemeris. It placed Venus and the Sun once an hour, on a grid shifted by 30 minutes from the first. That gave 7,012,656 moments. The two routes agree to within 0.01 of a point on every Venus figure here, including the 27 degree band.
The couple figures assume two people born at unrelated moments. Real couples are born close in time, so treat the odds as a guide to the sky. The Sun pair shares multiply the Sun table by itself, and count a mixed pair both ways. The Ptolemy points come from the Loeb edition by Frank Robbins, Book I, chapters 17 and 19.

Questions about two Pisces Venus signs
Are two Venus in Pisces partners compatible?
By the old grid, they share a love style: tender, giving and drawn to the ideal. Both Venuses are exalted. No study has shown that Venus signs predict how a couple does.
Do both partners have to be Pisces?
No. Most people with Venus in Pisces are Aries or Aquarius by Sun sign. Only 5.42 percent of these couples are also a double Pisces Sun pair.
How rare is a Venus in Pisces couple?
About 1 random couple in 145, or 0.69 percent. Only five of the 78 Venus pairs are rarer.
Is this the only pair with two exalted Venuses?
Yes. Venus is exalted in one sign only, Pisces. So both partners must have Venus in Pisces for both to be exalted.
How many of these couples have both Venuses near 27 degrees Pisces?
About 1 couple in 102 has both Venuses between 27 and 30 degrees Pisces. About 1 in 6 has exactly one.
