Aquarius Venus and Aquarius Venus compatibility joins two people with Venus in the same sign. It has one trait no other Venus pair shares. Of all 78 pairs, it is the one where Venus is least likely to share a sign with either partner’s Sun.
That matters for readers who arrive here as two Aquarius Suns. Most Aquarius Venus couples are not two Aquarius Suns at all. The likeliest couple is a Capricorn and a Pisces.
We tracked Venus and the Sun from 1600 to 2400 to put numbers on this pair. Read what follows as a lens for talking about love, not as a forecast. Astrology is not a science, and no study has shown that Venus signs predict how a couple will do.
The Sun signs behind an Aquarius Venus
Your Venus sign is the sign Venus was in when you were born. In astrology it shows what you find lovely and how you like to be loved.
Venus never strays far from the Sun, as seen from Earth. We measured the widest gap at 47.28 degrees, less than two signs. So an Aquarius Venus can only go with five Sun signs.
| Sun sign | Share of Aquarius Venus people | Note. |
|---|---|---|
| Sagittarius | 9.66 percent | Venus two signs ahead of the Sun. |
| Capricorn | 28.48 percent | Venus one sign ahead. |
| Aquarius | 23.09 percent | Sun and Venus in one sign. |
| Pisces | 29.46 percent | The largest group. |
| Aries | 9.31 percent | Venus two signs behind. |
In calendar terms, Aquarius Venus people are born between about November 22 and April 19. That span runs from late autumn to mid spring in the north.
Look at the middle row. Only 23.09 percent of Aquarius Venus people have an Aquarius Sun. That is the lowest figure of all twelve Venus signs. Across all signs, Venus shares the Sun’s sign in 23.62 percent of birth moments. The top is Cancer, at 24.07 percent.
The pair least tied to its own Suns
Now take two Aquarius Venus partners. What share of couples has at least one of them with Venus in their own Sun sign? We found 40.84 percent. That is the lowest of all 78 Venus pairs. Both partners match in only 5.33 percent, about one couple in 19.
| Venus pair | At least one partner with Venus in the Sun sign | Rank among 78. |
|---|---|---|
| Cancer and Cancer | 42.34 percent | First, the highest. |
| Capricorn and Capricorn | 41.04 percent | Seventy-fifth. |
| Aquarius and Pisces | 40.99 percent | Seventy-sixth. |
| Capricorn and Aquarius | 40.94 percent | Seventy-seventh. |
| Aquarius and Aquarius | 40.84 percent | Seventy-eighth, the lowest. |
Be clear about the size of this. From top to bottom, the range is only 1.5 points. It is a real ranking, and the same in both of our methods to within 0.01 points. But it is a fine grain, not a gulf.
Why this pair? Each partner has a 23.09 percent chance of a match, the lowest of any Venus sign. A pair of Aquarius Venuses takes that low figure twice. We report the count; we do not claim a single cause behind it.
The likeliest couple is a Capricorn and a Pisces
Now combine two partners. We multiplied the Sun sign shares and grouped the results. Order does not matter: a Capricorn with a Pisces counts once.
| Sun pair | Share of these couples | Rank. |
|---|---|---|
| Capricorn and Pisces | 16.78 percent | First, about one couple in six. |
| Aquarius and Pisces | 13.60 percent | Second. |
| Capricorn and Aquarius | 13.15 percent | Third. |
| Pisces and Pisces | 8.68 percent | Fourth. |
| Capricorn and Capricorn | 8.11 percent | Fifth. |
| Aquarius and Aquarius | 5.33 percent | About one couple in 19. |
So the likeliest face of this pair is a Capricorn and a Pisces. Their Suns sit on either side of Aquarius, and both carry Venus in the sign between them. Two Aquarius Suns rank well down the list.
We grouped the Sun pairs by the angle between them. The two Suns sit in next-door signs in 37.74 percent of couples. They sit two signs apart, a sextile, in 25.54 percent. They share one sign in 23.92 percent, about one in four. A square comes in 10.99 percent. A trine, only a Sagittarius Sun with an Aries Sun, comes in 1.80 percent.
Two Aquarius Suns are a different couple
Many readers land here because both partners are Aquarius Suns. Does that make them this Venus pair? Not in most cases. For an Aquarius Sun, Venus sits in Aquarius only part of the time. The rest of the time it sits in Sagittarius, Capricorn, Pisces or Aries. So two Aquarius Suns form many Venus pairs, and this is only one of them.

How common this pair is
Venus does not spend equal time in each sign. About every 19 months, it seems to move backward for six weeks, which astrologers call retrograde. Venus repeats its path on an eight-year cycle, so a short span of years can skew the count. We used eight full centuries.
| Venus sign | Share of time, 1600 to 2400 | Rank among twelve. |
|---|---|---|
| Venus in Aquarius | 8.16 percent | Tenth of twelve. |
| Even split | 8.33 percent | One sign in twelve. |
What is the chance that two people picked at random both have Venus in Aquarius? A same-sign pair can form only one way, so we square the share. The answer is 0.67 percent, or about one couple in 150. That ranks 76th of the 78 Venus pairs. All twelve same-sign pairs sit at the bottom of that list. Only Scorpio and Scorpio, then Capricorn and Capricorn, come up less.
Venus in Saturn’s second house
The old authors gave each planet a rank in each sign. A home, or domicile, is a sign the planet rules. An exaltation is a sign where it is honored. The detriment and the fall are its weak places.
Aquarius gives Venus none of these major ranks. It is not her home, her exaltation, her detriment or her fall. The sign belongs to Saturn, who also rules Capricorn. Modern astrologers add Uranus as a second ruler of Aquarius, since its discovery in 1781. So the sign is read two ways. Under Saturn, love here is steady and slow to bend. Under Uranus, it is free and hard to predict.
| Partner | Rank of Venus | Who runs the sign. |
|---|---|---|
| First Aquarius Venus | No major rank. | Saturn, or Uranus for modern authors. |
| Second Aquarius Venus | No major rank. | Saturn, or Uranus for modern authors. |
Ptolemy adds one more layer in chapter 18 of the first book. He sorts the signs into four triangles. Gemini, Libra and Aquarius form the air triangle. He gave it to Saturn by day and to Mercury by night. So in a day chart, a birth with the Sun above the horizon, Saturn holds even more sway over this sign.
A rank is a label from old books, not a grade for a person. Our page on Venus in Aquarius reads the placement under both rulers.
One sign, and how close the two Venuses sit
Two Venuses in one sign form a conjunction by sign. Ptolemy’s chapter 13 lists four aspects: the opposition, the trine, the square and the sextile. The conjunction is not among them. Later authors, William Lilly among them, counted it as the closest bond of all.
But one sign spans 30 degrees. Two Venuses in Aquarius can sit anywhere from 0 to 30 degrees apart. The margin allowed around an exact aspect is called the orb. We used the real spread of Venus inside Aquarius to see how many couples come close.
| Orb | Couples with a true conjunction | Reading. |
|---|---|---|
| 3 degrees | 18.98 percent | About one in five. |
| 6 degrees | 35.95 percent | About one in three. |
| 8 degrees | 46.14 percent | Just under half. |
| 10 degrees | 55.44 percent | Just over half. |
So at an 8 degree orb, more than half of these couples share a sign without a close conjunction.
Ptolemy’s mirror, read two ways
In chapter 15 of the first book, Ptolemy names signs that “behold” each other, or have equal power. When the Sun is in either one, the days have the same length. There are two ways to read this, and sites mix them up.
Read by whole signs, the pairs sit on either side of the turning signs, Cancer and Capricorn. Robbins, the translator, lists them in his note 83: Gemini and Leo, Taurus and Virgo, Aries and Libra, Pisces and Scorpio, Aquarius and Sagittarius. So by whole signs, Aquarius beholds Sagittarius.
Read by degrees, each degree mirrors another across the solstice line, 0 degrees Cancer and 0 degrees Capricorn. Lilly calls these mirror points antiscia. On that reading, Aquarius mirrors Scorpio. A Venus at 10 degrees Aquarius mirrors a point at 20 degrees Scorpio.
Either way, the partner sign is never Aquarius itself. So two Aquarius Venuses can never mirror each other by degree. We found no such case at a 1 or 3 degree orb. Ptolemy’s other links, “command and obey” and aversion, always join two different signs as well.
How the tradition reads this couple
None of what follows has been tested. It is how the tradition reads the pair.
- Shared ground. Both show love through ideas, friends and causes. A good talk counts as much as a gift.
- Saturn in the room. Both Venuses answer to the same host. Loyalty runs deep once a choice is made.
- The modern layer. Read through Uranus, both want room to move. Neither wants to be managed.
- The sore spot. Two people who prize space can both wait for the other to come closer.
A simple habit helps. Keep one ritual that belongs to the two of you alone, however odd. Let the rest of life stay open. For this pair, a fixed point makes freedom feel safe.
The tradition sees a shared sign as a shared language. Read that way, this couple understands the need for air without asking. The work is to turn that ease into warmth.

What the evidence says
The largest test of sign matches used the 2001 census of England and Wales. The sociologist David Voas looked at 10.3 million married couples. He found no effect of Sun signs on who marries whom. A small excess of same-sign couples came from errors in the data. His paper, “Ten million marriages,” came out in 2007. It tested Sun signs only. No test of that size exists for Venus signs.
So a shared sign is not a promise, and a low rank is not a warning. This page shows the sky behind the label.
How we measured
We used two methods that share no code. The first used the Astronomy Engine library. It found each time Venus and the Sun entered a sign from 1600 to 2400, to a tenth of a second, and added up the time. The second used the Swiss Ephemeris. It checked the sign of Venus every hour, on a grid set half an hour off the first. That is more than seven million points. Neither method drew random numbers. On the Venus figures, the two agree within 0.01 points.
Pair odds assume two people born at unrelated moments. The Sun pair figures multiply each partner’s Sun sign shares. The degree figures use the real spread of Venus inside Aquarius, in steps of a tenth of a degree. All values use the tropical zodiac, seen from Earth. Ptolemy is quoted from the Loeb edition by Frank Robbins, Book I, chapters 13 to 19.
Frequently asked questions
Are two Venus in Aquarius partners compatible?
They share one sign, one element and one ruler, Saturn, or Uranus for modern authors. At an 8 degree orb, 46.14 percent of these couples have a true conjunction. No study shows that Venus signs predict how a couple does.
How common is an Aquarius Venus and Aquarius Venus couple?
About one couple in 150, or 0.67 percent, over 1600 to 2400. It ranks 76th of the 78 Venus pairs.
What Sun signs do two Aquarius Venus partners have?
The likeliest mix is a Capricorn and a Pisces, in 16.78 percent of these couples. Two Aquarius Suns make up 5.33 percent, about one couple in 19.
Why is this pair the least tied to its own Sun signs?
Only 23.09 percent of Aquarius Venus people have an Aquarius Sun, the lowest of the twelve signs. So at least one partner matches in just 40.84 percent of couples, the lowest of all 78 pairs.
Which sign does Aquarius “behold” in Ptolemy?
By whole signs, Sagittarius, as in Robbins’s note 83. By degrees, it mirrors Scorpio across the solstice line.
